NOOOOOO!!!!!! [Mar. 6th, 2007|05:23 pm]
[mood | numb]

HammerFall just kicked out Magnus! This can't be happening!!

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=68307

HammerFall was my first true metal concert. I only had "Chapter V", their newest release at the time, when I saw them. I didn't know Glory to the Brave, HammerFall, Renegade, or any of their other classic songs. I rode three and a half hours with a guy I'd met on the HammerFall forum because I didn't want to go alone. I'd never even heard of Edguy, who opened; I was that new. But I stood outside three hours for the doors to open, and I was at the very front, stage left. When HammerFall came on Magnus was right in front of me. I could reach up and touch his ridiculous black and silver boots. My god, it was an amazing show. And at the end, Magnus gave me a pick.

For months afterward HammerFall was my favorite band. I wouldn't hear a word against them. I wore their shirt constantly, I put their picture up as the background on my computer, and I wouldn't shut up about them. For a long time no other concert I went to seemed to compare to the memory of seeing HammerFall live.

Now my metal-ness has grown; my tastes have expanded beyond the realm of power metal, Amon Amarth has taken HammerFall's place, and I'm able to finally see (and admit) just how cheesy HammerFall really is. But HammerFall was my first metal love, and Magnus seemed to be the thing that epitomized them to me. Now that he's gone, HammerFall will no longer be HammerFall.

What a nightmare! [Feb. 5th, 2007|08:23 pm]

Last night I dreamed I was at a metal concert.....it was some shitty unknown bands and Amon Amarth opening for Lacuna Coil, I think. Right before the concert started I looked down and was horrified to realize that I was wearing sandals and a white shirt. Becky was standing next to me and she was also wearing a white shirt, but she said she was wearing a black shirt underneath and that she was going to take off the white one when the concert started. I ran frantically to the merchandise booth to buy a black shirt, but they were mostly sold out and all they had left were shirts for the shitty local bands and they only had them in size Large, so I didn't buy one. When Amon Amarth came on no one seemed to care except me, so I jumped up on stage in my lame-ass white t-shirt and Johan Hegg signed my neck (yes, my neck) with an orange highlighter.

How weird. lol!

Why are people such assholes? I had to work will-call tonight for the arts building where I'm interning (we mostly have classical concerts; tonight was a guy tap-dancing to classical music *rolls eyes*). Well, someone didn't print out the internet ticket orders, so I didn't have half the tickets I was suppose to. I had to send everyone who had bought tickets online to the box office, which was maybe 200 feet away up a flight of stairs. Most people looked a little irritated about this, which is understandable, but didn't complain. Then about 10 minutes before the concert is suppose to start things start to get crazy. There are about 25 people standing in line waiting to get their tickets and I'm the only one working will-call. I'm suppose to have a supervisor to help with any problems, but they didn't show up. Well, this one couple comes up and when I tell them that their tickets weren't printed and they're going to have to go to the box office to pick them up the woman is like "well, that's not our fault". It took all my control to not say back to her a)I didn't SAY it was your fault, b)it's not MY fault either, and c)why are you being such a bitch about it? I have 25 people behind you who want their tickets NOW so they can get seated before the show starts. Well, she then tells me her husband can't climb the SEVEN stairs up to the box office and someone needs to go up there and get their tickets for them. Why can't she go get the tickets while he waits? (the box office is literally 30 seconds from where we are). I don't know, but rather than risk opening my mouth I just go and get their tickets, hand them to the husband and walk off. I hate people.

If I ever get an office job, please kill me. [Jan. 31st, 2007|09:17 am]

[music |Mithotyn (awesome Viking metal \m/)]

Are all office workers such two-faced, lying creatures? I spent all of yesterday (except for the times when I was on an ice run or making sure the performers and crew weren't running low on coffee or fetching someones paycheck, of course) listening to the people I work with bitching and complaining about various members of the staff. Then, 20 minutes later, said member of staff would walk in and the same people who had just been talking about how that person was a bitch/never did their job/should be fired act all friendly towards that person and start berating other staff members as one big chummy group. This happened multiple times throughout the day with different people involved. They're such hippocrates. Trust me, if I don't like you, you damn well know it.

[mood |astounded]

Ok, so I was going thrifting with my two cousins today and in this really cool/scuzzy store that sells just about everything I found a Nile and an Edguy cd. WTF??!!! I'm in the middle of Kentucky, the store couldn't have had more than 75 cds in their "pop/rock" section: what the fuck are they doing with black and power metal?! Oh well, 2 more cds for my collection at only $6.34 total. Not bad.

Ooops, I just called Nile Black Metal. What I meant to say was "Brutal/Technical Death Metal". My bad. Thanks metal-archives for setting me straight.

[music |Mordred's Song - Blind Guardian]

There simply isn't enough time. Two hours of research done amounting to raw material which will take another two to four hours to turn into something which can actually be used in a paper. All this time will turn out to equal probably about a half a page of usable text. Great. 7-10 page paper, ridiculously hard test to study for, a yet unknown final project, regular homework....I really don't see how all this is going to get done. I anticipate a breakdown sometime in the next two and a half weeks.

On another note: I'm about ready to solder these motherfucking labret studs in my face! Today was the FIFTH spike I've lost/swallowed. So now my lip is unbalanced with one blue and one silver stud. Lame.

Other news: Blind Guardian! Two days!! Hells yeah!!!

stolen from Wren [Nov. 19th, 2006|09:30 pm]
IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool...(ok, I skipped a couple, mostly because they were Symphony X songs I didn't know)

Opening Credits:
Hopelessness - Darkseed (not that I'm emo or anything, but this makes an awesome opening song)

Waking Up:
Golos Lesov - Alkonost (Think Russian Nightwish with more Marco-ish vocals...good choice)

First Day At School:
Taste of My Scythe - Children of Bodom (SO appropriate!! I don't think there's a better song for this category)

Falling In Love:
The Odyssey: Pt. 1: Odysseus' Theme/Overture/Pt. 2 Journy to Ithaca/Pt. 3 - Symphony X (LOL! A twenty-four minute song....sounds about right)

Fight Song:
A Meeting Place in Time - Woods of Ypres (awesome song, but something one would fight to....maybe we can put an Amon Amarth song here)

Breaking Up:
Into the Unknown - Avantasia (um...sure)

Prom:
Castles in the Sky - Ian Van Dahl (shut up! it's none of your business if I have a few really bad dance songs mixed in with my metal!)

Life is good:
Defenders of the Crown - Human Fortress (hells fucking yeah! \m/)

Mental Breakdown:
Black Diamond - Stratovarius (I approve!)

Driving:
Body Breakdown - Dragonforce (there's nothing better than driving to Dragonforce!)

Flashback:
Bloody Red Dungeons - Rhapsody (I refuse to call them Rhapsody of Fire....must admit this is the first time I've actually bothered to listen to this song, and it fits)

Getting Back Together:
Sweet Child 'O Mine - Guns 'n Roses (see comment for Prom...)

Wedding:
Greensleeves - Stratovarius

Birth of Child:
Children of Decadence - Children of Bodom (lol!)

Final Battle:
Black Sheep - Sonata Arctica (Temple of the evil, temple of the weak...\m/!)

Death Scene:
Shamandalie - Sonata Arctica (perfect)

Funeral Song:
I Want Out - Hammerfall version of Helloween song (awesome)

End Credits:
Under the Northern Star - Amon Amarth (NOW Amon Amarth shows up??!! WTF?? There're so many better places for them....oh well, this is pretty awesome to end it with)

Ok Becky, I just spent like an hour trying to set this thing up. I hope you're happy now. Why do I still have to look at adds for pet supplies?!
